With bargain airlines and the Holiday Shuttle which runs 6 x daily 365 days a year from Munic and Salzburg Airport, you can travel to Saalbach Hinterglemm quickly and for a reasonable price.

With the budget airlines many Winter Sports people land at Salzburg Airport, which in the last year was the hub for Low-Cost Carriers in the whole of Europe. Also numerous airlines are offering bargain prices from all over Europe at Munic Airport. From those two Airports you can travel with the Holiday Shuttle directly to your hotel door in Saalbach Hinterglemm (for € 37 from Salzburg Airport and € 86 from Munic Airport), over the virtual Taxi Stand www.holiday-shuttle.at you can book a transfer until 12 hours before your arrival.

With the assistance of the Firm CapCorn a Web based booking system was agreed and developed whereby the guest is permitted to use a reliable database for holiday planning which covers the ´in-house` logistics of the co-operating suppliers. Guests can pay online with their credit cards over a secure and coded Internet access. For availability there are six connections to and from the Airports daily 365 days a year. The timetable is built around the flight schedule, in order to guarantee a swift connection – prices start from € 37,00 for a one way transfer to or from Salzburg (€ 86,00 for Munich) including carriage of luggage and ski equipment.

The transfers are carried out by a float of over 35 taxis and besides the normal timetable you can also book exclusive individual VIP Shuttles. The VIP offer ranges from a 4 person vehicle, which can be booked for any time of arrival or departure to a helicopter. The VIP transfers operate also from Innsbruck airport.

Roxy Chicken Jam 08th to 10th of January 2010: slopestyle festival at Saalbach Hinterglemm!

In 2010, the Roxy Chicken Jam presents itself with a new location and an extended supporting programme. The seventh edition of the world’s biggest female snowboard competition will take place from the 08th to the 10th of January 2010 at the Nightpark Saalbach Hinterglemm. Apart from the snowboarders’ top performances, parties and live acts like Bunny Lake and the Wax Wreckaz will provide a great atmosphere at Saalbach Hinterglemm!

The move of the Roxy Chicken Jam to Saalbach Hinterglemm will bring the world’s best female snowboarders closer to their fans: the Nightpark is only 200 meters away from the village centre.  Thus, the spectacular contest will attract more spectators than ever before. The Nightpark at Unterschwarzachlift will be shaped according to the demands of the world’s best snowboarders. Two jib sets at the beginning and the end of the course and a triple kicker line at the middle of the park will
give the slopestyle artists the opportunity to show their best tricks and moves on many varied obstacles and prove their creativity and style at the fight for the 50,000 prize-purse.

 
The Roxy Chicken Jams in Europe in early wintertime and at Mammoth, USA, at the end of the season both are 6-star events and the biggest and most important competitions of the TTR Women’s World Snowboard Tour – while the event at Saalbach Hinterglemm sets the course for a successful season, the female TTR World Tour Winner will be crowned at the Roxy Chicken Jam USA. With 1,000 points for the overall ranking respectively, the winners can distance themselves from their
competitors. At both events, the snow park and the event format are specially tuned to the girls’ demands, and the focus will be 100% directed on them. All in all, this leads to stronger performances, and has made these events the benchmark measuring the progression of women snowboarding as well as being an avenue for unknown riders to make their mark.

 
Top riders like the TTR world champion 2006, Cheryl Maas (NED), the TTR world champion 2007, Torah Bright (AUS), the TTR world champion 2008, Jamie Anderson (USA) or stars like Kjersti Buaas Oestgaard (NOR), Jenny Jones (GBR), Lisa Filzmoser (AUT), Claudia Fliri (AUT), Silvia Mittermueller and Lisa Wiik (NOR) have been taking part in the previous Roxy Chicken Jams and will for sure not miss the chance to experience the event at the new location!
And where there are snowboarders, the party’s not far away: live acts and DJ sets will make the Roxy Chicken Jam a big freestyle festival. At Saturday evening, Innsbruck’s notorious DJ crew, the Way Wreckaz, will make the audience and the snowboarders bounce at the Reiterkogel valley station. After
the award ceremony, the electro underground collective Bunny Lake will put the pedal to the medal – the band from Vienna has won this year’s Amadeus Award in the electronic/dance category and guarantees après snowboarding of the most danceable kind! Concludingly, an after show party will
round off the weekend.

The ONE BIG PARK glemm.bang slopestyle contest goes into its 3rd edition in 2010! It will take place at the Nightpark Saalbach-Hinterglemm (www.saalbach.com), (AUT) on January 22. – 23. 2010.

The ONE BIG PARK glemm.bang slopestyle contest is starts on Friday at 2 p.m. with an open qualification for snowboarders, freeskiers and a special contest for the rookies.
The 10 best skiers and snowboarders are getting a wild-card for the finals on Saturday where they will compete with the invited riders for the prize money of € 5.000.

There will be a photoshoot – competition for the amateur photographers. They will have the chance to take pictures on both contest days. The winner- picture is going to be published in the Snowboarder MBM and Skiing Mag.

Euroskipride Saalbach Hinterglemm

In March it will be hot in Saalbach Hinterglemm – and it will have nothing to do with Global Warming!

The ski and party week of the Gay Community from 20th to 27th March 2010 promises cool Winter sports and hot parties.  From the ‘kick-off’ party with “Snowballs and Snowgirls” to a dance session at the top of the Schattberg mountain along with international DJ’s, to an evening with ‘Boy George Experience Live’ – aka Keith George.

The word ‘GAY’ originates from the English vocabulary and is the word to cover, in general, the gay and lesbian world, but is also translated as: colourful, happy, carefree and fun-loving.
And this will be the motto of the week long event in Saalbach Hinterglemm, with a great social programme and enhanced by the colours of the rainbow.

The gay event specialists ‘BlueTomato Productions Ltd, whose main offices are based in England and Madrid, are hosting this event in partnership with the Tourist Office of Saalbach Hinterglemm – Director, Wolfgang Breitfuß: “We are looking forward to this new event which is part of a diverse programme on offer by Saalbach Hinterglemm.  Naturally, economic considerations have also played a role: The number of people who make up the gay community should not be underestimated and are a lucrative market who are especially loyal customers.”

According to the “International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association” (IGLTA) the number of travel fanatic gay and lesbians in Germany alone are estimated at 5.5 million.

Julie Jenkins, the Tourist Office Project Manager for Euroskipride commented: “Enquiries for this new event are becoming more and more each day – from all corners of the globe, not only Europe wide, but also from the USA and South Africa!”

More than 430 ski resorts in the Alps, North America, Pyrenees, eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Japan and Scotland were evaluated. The festive award ceremony took place at the book´s launch at the National Liberal Club in London on 7th September 2009.

Even before the first Snowflakes fall on the valley of Saalbach Hinterglemm, the first award is snown in: Britain´s only renowned annual guidebook to Winter sport resorts „Where to Ski and Snowboard“ (WTSS) awarded the Skicircus with „the Best European Resort Development 2009“.

The modernisation of even three lifts puts the Skicircus ahead of the most modern and innovative ski areas in the Alps: The T-bar lift Turmlift in the centre of Saalbach is replaced by a six seater chairlift with child safety bars and instead of the four seater lift at the Hasenauerköpfl in Hinterglemm, there will be a eight seater lift to bring skiers and snowboarders swiftly and comfortably to the top of the mountain. Both chairlifts will be equipped with heated seats and bubble covers. In Leogang the Almlift T-bar will be replaced with a four seater chairlift. In total the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang invested € 18 Mio. in lift modernisation and piste improvements this year.

Chris Gill, Co-Editor of „Where to Ski and Snowboard“: „Three new fast chairlifts for 2009/10 mean that over 80% of the ski area´s lifts will be high-speed. This is a higher percentage than any other major resort in the world an puts the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang comfortably at the top of the WTSS fast lift league table.”

Investments in the Skicircus
Since the year 2000 the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang invested more than € 190 Mio. in the fields of lifts, snow making, pistes and piste machines. That equals approximately the construction sum of 760 detached houses. € 55 Mio of this total investment sum is allotted to snow making systems and water storage reservoirs. With 472 snow making facilities an area of about 253 hectares, respectively 90 % of all descents can be covered with snow. In the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang more than 430 employees look after the perfect shape of the 200 kilometre of pistes and guarantee pure skiing indulgence on the highest level.
