The Glemmtal can look back on a very successful racing history. With the two substitute races in December, in which the two World Cup races were taken over and successfully set up within six weeks, the Saalbach team once again proved how much they love and are accomplished at organising such events. With such a passion for skiing, the Glemmtal will once again make a bid for the World Ski Championships in 2025. “We are feeling very optimistic and energised as we enter the second round”, said Mayor, Alois Hasenauer at the official announcement of the bid in December. “We stand by our existing concept of which there will be no changes for the next round”.

The competitors are Crans Montana/Valais, which last hosted the World Ski Championships back in 1987, with the last World Ski Championships being held in St. Moritz two years ago in 2019. The third candidate is Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany which last held in the event in 2011.

„Saalbach has proven several times that skiing and big events like World Cups are supported by the entire population. The region offers perfect structural and organizational conditions. The Austrian Ski Association will endeavor to submit the best possible application with its candidate Saalbach”, President of the Austrian Ski Association Peter Schröcksnadel.

The decision as to where the World Championships will be held in 2025, will be made in May 2020 at the 52nd International Ski Congress in Pattaya, Thailand.

Concept: One Mountain – All Events
The Zwölferkogel in Hinterglemm is the venue for all disciplines and competitions. The central location ensures that co-ordination with athletes, media as well as the guests’ runs smoothly. New buildings and pistes will only be established if they can be used for long term usability, such as the Zwölferkogel-Gondola, which is under construction at present.
