Jakob Herrmann (AUT) and Elena Nicolini (ITA) win on the marathon distance
Austria's biggest and toughest touring ski race, the Hervis Mountain Attack, took place today (Friday, January 20, 2023) for the 25th time. Winner and Hervis Mountain Man 2023 on the marathon course was Jakob Hermann (AUT) from Salzburg. Elena Nicolini (ITA) won the women's race.
Jakob Hermann was thus able to take the title for the second time after 2020. Second and third were the Italian William Boffelli and the 4-time Mountain Attack winner from 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2022, Christian Hofmann. The fastest woman was the Italian Elena Nicolini. She won ahead of Amelie Hermann (GER) and Bianca Somavilla (AUT).
About 1,000 athletes from 15 nations were at the start to show their skills in the Schattberg Race (1,017 vertical meters), the Tour (2,036 vertical meters, 5 summits) or the Marathon (3,010 vertical meters, 6 summits) in the "Home of Lässig".
At 4:00 p.m., the starting signal was given at the village square in Saalbach for the anniversary edition of the ski mountaineering cult event. Roland Kurz, inventor and organizer: "Almost 1,000 motivated participants, best weather and slope conditions as well as a super atmosphere were the ideal basis for a great race."
