The anniversary edition in Saalbach Hinterglemm kicks off this week
An Event of Superlatives
This anniversary is all about sporting excellence and communal experiences. With hundreds of registered participants from numerous nations, the event once again enjoys an impressive turnout this year. Since its debut 25 years ago, the World Games of Mountainbiking have become a beloved mountainbiking event in the Salzburger Land - a gathering for amateurs and professionals alike who wish to test their endurance and skills.
“We are proud to have developed the World Games of Mountainbiking into a significant event in the mountainbiking scene over the past 25 years,” says Wolfgang Breitfuß, Director of the Tourism Board. “This success is the result of the passionate collaboration of our team, the entire region, and above all, the athletes who participate with enthusiasm and determination every year.”
Four Marathon Distances for Every Demand
As always, the traditional marathon will take place on Saturday, featuring four different distances: the Marathon 21, Marathon 42, Marathon 58, and the king of them all, the Marathon 80. The courses lead riders through the breathtaking landscape of Saalbach Hinterglemm, with climbs reaching up to 2,094 meters. Here, the participants' stamina will be pushed to the limit.
E-Bike Marathon
In addition to the classic disciplines, this year’s World Games will once again include the E-Bike Marathon, now in its third edition. With a new and even longer route, participants will experience the pure marathon feeling over 42 km and 1,700 meters of elevation gain.
Young Talents at the Junior Trophy
A special highlight on Sunday will be the Junior Trophy, where children up to 13 years old can showcase their skills. The young talents will compete in various age groups on a circuit and experience the thrill of a real race.
The Highlight of the Year for the Mountain Biking Scene
The event has long established itself as a highlight on the calendar and attracts not only top riders but also hobby bikers and families every year. With courses for all ages and skill levels, the event offers something for everyone—from professionals to beginners.
