27. World Games of Mountainbiking
11.–13.09.2026
The legendary World Games of Mountainbiking return for their 27th edition from 11.-13.09.2026 and are once again open to all mountain bikers. The heart of the event is Saturday’s marathon races, featuring five distances ranging from 21 to 80 km and up to 3,720 vertical meters. Participants can decide spontaneously during the race which distance they want to tackle.
The race weekend is rounded off by the Junior Trophy on Sunday and an e-bike competition, where companies and clubs can also compete as teams. Spectators can follow the action both in the finish area and at key locations along the course, including the Schattberg Ost and West summits and the Zwölferkogel.

traditional sheep drives
12.09.2026 & 19.09.2026
In autumn, after a wonderful summer spent grazing on the alpine lands, the sheep return to the valley. Visitors can experience this traditional event at the Gerstreitalm and enjoy regional delicacies afterwards. The event starts on 12.09.2026 at around 10:00 directly at the Gerstreitalm before we make our way down into the valley together. The hike up from Hinterglemm takes around 30 minutes, free entry.
The Vorderglemm sheep drive takes place on 19.09.2026. After the summer, the sheep return home to the Teuererhof and Hochwarthof in Vorderglemm. Celebrations begin at 3:00 the “Heimat” restaurant, with live music by Glemmer Power, traditional roast and other local specialities. A beer garden, children’s playground and a relaxed programme provide the perfect setting for a cozy afternoon.
Traditional Harvesting Festival

On Sunday, 27.09.2026, the community gives thanks for a successful summer on the alpine pastures. The local farmers will once again set up a festival tent in front of the Saalbach primary school. The festivities begin at 11:00, with live music by the Trachtenmusikkapelle Saalbach Hinterglemm and Glemmer Power.
Guests can enjoy freshly prepared homemade roast and traditional Bauernkrapfen, as well as homemade cakes and coffee. Admission is free, and the event takes place in all weather conditions.

From 19.09. - 24 .10.2026, the Saalbacher Schmankerlherbst invites guests to discover the regional flavours of autumn. Whether at rustic mountain huts or on guided culinary hikes, only the finest regional ingredients make it onto the plate. The variety ranges from hearty Kasnock’n to sweet Austrian pastries, accompanied by excellent austrian wines. Music, living traditions and authentic local customs round off the experience.

The 2026/27 winter season is expected to begin at the end of November. December’s event highlights are BERGFESTival and Rave on Snow – two events that kick off the ski season in spectacular ways.
Join us as we give winter a proper welcome over four unforgettable days, with bands such as Roy Bianco & die Abbrunzati Boys creating an incredible atmosphere at BERGFESTival from 3.-6.12.2026. From 10.-13.12.2026, Rave on Snow will once again bring numerous top international DJs to Saalbach and turn the resort into one big party.
