At the 12th Saalbach Trail & Skyrace, held on 15. and 16. August 2026, almost 600 participants from 25 nations took on a special sporting challenge across seven different race formats, set against the impressive mountain backdrop of the Home of Lässig. The diverse race programme ranged from the more relaxed Soultrail (9 km/450 m elevation gain) and the Vertical Extreme (3.3 km/1,000 m elevation gain) to the spectacular 6-Hour Challenge on the Schattberg. The classic long-distance race formats included the 6 Summits Martini Skyrace (19 km/2,100 m elevation gain), the 6 Summits Speed (16 km/1,100 m elevation gain) and the 13 Summits Sky Marathon (47 km/3,500 m elevation gain).

Austrian double victory in the 13 Summits Sky Marathon

The marathon event saw an Austrian double victory: Alexander Hutter claimed the overall win with a time of 06:47:19, while Andrea Ambros was the fastest woman, finishing in 08:05:47.

New to the programme this year was the 12 Summits Speed, which offered an attractive alternative to the Sky Marathon by skipping the demanding first climb up the Schattberg. With more than 80 runners taking part, the new format proved very popular. Full results from the Trail & Skyrace 2026 are available at time2win.at.

Alongside the impressive sporting performances, hot summer weather and the spectacular mountain scenery made for an exceptional weekend of trail running. For two days, endurance and, above all, a shared passion for mountain sports took centre stage in Saalbach Hinterglemm.

“On both days, we witnessed outstanding performances and experienced a very special atmosphere – among the athletes as well as the spectators,” says organiser Gunter Mayer. He adds: “A huge thank you goes to Saalbach Hinterglemm, whose support and cooperation make this event possible in the first place.”

The next Trail & Skyrace will take place in August 2027. More information about events in Saalbach is available at saalbach.com/events.
