New Opportunities on the Schattberg
Over a distance of 4.9 kilometres, the trail descends 582 vertical metres. Along the way, riders can look forward not only to natural obstacles, new features and flowing sections, but also some special surprises. The Bearly Legal-Line is an alternative to the already established X-Line. With the new Back to Black connecting trail, the lines and trails on the Schattberg can now be combined in any way riders choose.
“The Bearly Legal-Line sustainably enhances the Schattberg as a biking mountain. It creates an attractive connection between Saalbach and Hinterglemm directly over the mountain, enabling a continuous biking experience. Thanks to its consistently difficulty rating in red (intermediate), it primarily appeals to bikers with intermediate riding skills, while also offering families and ambitious kids an exciting and manageable challenge,” says Hannes Schwabl, Managing Director of the Saalbach Mountain Lifts.
Test Ride with Vali Höll
Even before the official opening, the new trail was given a very special first ride: on June 5th, Saalbach athlete Vali Höll tested the Bearly Legal-Line for the first time together with the local bike crew GlemmRiders: “It’s a very cute, cool line that has something for everyone. With its many safe jumps, it’s really playful and fun, but you can also roll everything. I’m already looking forward to more rides on the Bearly Legal-Line! Congratulations to Saalbach on this cool new trail!”, says the four-time downhill world champion. The official opening of the new Bearly Legal-Line will take place on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

The event kicks off at 10:00 a.m. at the entrance to the new trail below the mid-station of the Schattberg X-press, including an exclusive ride-out with the GlemmRiders. From 11:00 a.m., the supporting programme begins at the valley station of the A1 Schattberg X-press, featuring a food truck, DJ sound and pump track. A special highlight will be the live broadcast of the UCI Downhill World Cup from Lenzerheide, with a TV studio set up directly on the event grounds. Markus Pekoll, Steve Schneider and Guido Heuber will host the broadcast on site, once again bringing a true World Cup atmosphere to the heart of Saalbach Hinterglemm.
